Completed the process of acquiring low vision corrective lenses with Dr. DeGraziano recently and am slowly adjusting to their use. Dr. DeG was very patient and accommodating to my situation and thorough in explaining various alternatives for my needs including distance sight requirements as well as reading and sports goggles. I appreciated his professionalism as well as his friendliness and concern regarding my low vision condition and how it effects my day to day quality of life.
I met with Dr. Graziano at the suggestion of my retina specialist, as my declining vision has begun to impact me in many daily activities, including creating my art. He showed me a number of things to do with my electronics to make the computer and phone easier to manage, and gave me a lot of tips to address specific challenges I have been noticing. Dr. Graziano was very helpful in providing eyewear to help me continue to create art and knit or crochet items for my granddaughter. We talked about what additional tools could be available if the condition continues to progress or affects other activities. I was frightened and discouraged bout my eyesight before this consultation, and Dr. Graziano restored hope that there are solutions that can keep me active in the things I love to do.
LIFE CHANGING!!! I took my mom to see Dr. DeGraziano and we couldn’t be happier! I'm so glad I heard about him through Braille Inst. He spent so much time with me and patiently guided me through different devices tailored to my needs. I have moderate AMD and recently purchased two pairs of low-vision glasses from Dr. DeGraziano: close-up (viewer/readers) and distance (driving) glasses.
The close-up glasses are very easy to use. Dr. DeGraziano set them at a TV-viewing focus.
I enjoy watching old movies that can be somewhat blurry, and the glasses correct the blurriness in my own vision so I can concentrate on the movie. I also find it easier to read words on news shows and ads instantly without having to “rewind” the TV show.
The close-up glasses also have monocular caps with added magnification for computer use and reading tiny print such as on medication bottles. The caps are easy to put on and take off.
The distance glasses are fantastic. They have given me confidence in driving and even as a passenger to see more clearly. I have some central vision loss, and these glasses minimize that condition.
There is a learning curve to the distance glasses, as there are general viewing lenses and small “telescope” magnifiers on top to see small things like street signs and signal lights under poor light conditions. It takes a bit of practice to focus in with the magnifiers (especially while moving), but it is worth the effort.
Dr. DeGraziano also outfitted the glasses with a bifocal lens set to an instrument panel focus, and yellow glare-reducing tint so sunglasses are not necessary.
Admittedly, the cost of the glasses was more than I had planned to invest, but the investment is worthwhile. These glasses are unique in their ability to focus my vision in a way I thought was becoming impossible, and have reduced the frustration I have had dealing with my AMD. I would highly recommend these glasses.

Dr. DeGraziano has provided a tremendous service by designing a magnifying lens for a severely impaired disabled person. This included glasses as well as Iris vision devise which were helpful. But since the insurance companies began controlling medical visits, 15 minutes seems to be the limit a doctor could give one [patient]. Doctor DeGraziano gave me two, 2 hour visits. I have macular degeneration. Dr. DeGraziano introduced me to eyeglasses with a magnifier attached, a bright desk lamp and lighted magnifying glass. He was extremely helpful and explained everything very well.
Dr Peter DeGraziano is awesome! We've investigated another low vision specialists (husband is legally blind since birth) but this Dr is the most compassionate, empathetic & helpful Dr we've seen. We drive two hours to go see him and he's worth every minute. He's always accomodating, relaxed, positive and very experienced. The patient is my husband & we got the newest bioptic glasses for him that have changed his life. When we had a gathering someone bumped into person next to hubby and threw his lenses out of alignment. We thought it was the nose bridge but he needed new frames and luckily DrP found some and had him back in business the following week.
